Your Newborn Baby Survival Guide

My Story

Recently I had the privilege of becoming a dad for the first time.

The feeling is a feeling like no other.

The love and joy one baby can bring is unmatched.

One thing that is a problem before becoming a parent, is there is no real guide to what you need to purchase for their arrival.

In this guide, I’ll share the things we couldn't live without. In the hope that it can make your special journey a little easier!

I will also show some items I have found really enjoyable.

None of these items shown are sponsored. These are just the products I have experienced.

Baby Essentials

Mam Bottles

Bottles

Bottles are essential for your baby. We personally went with the MAM easy start bottle set. The pack comes with bottles until the child does not need them anymore, a dummy and a sippy sippy cup for when they're older! These are usually on offer at Argos for around £50.00.

Baby Formula

Formula

If choosing to go with a formula fed baby, I personally recommend the Aldi 'Mamia Stage 1 First Infant Milk'. From what we researched, it is basically the same as Aptamil, but it is half the price! Aldi sell this for around £6.99, making it a no brainer for us.

Nappies

Nappies

Make sure you get lots and lots of nappies! We personally go for these Aldi 'Mamia' nappies as they are cheaper and we have never had any leak-throughs so far. I believe these are about 75p for 24, but you can get them in bigger packs. Our baby started on size 1.

Moses Basket

Moses Basket

So you've got the food sorted, you've got the nappies sorted, but the baby needs somewhere to sleep. Eventually you will need a cot, but for now we just use a moses basket. Mainly because they look so cute! We got ours from Clair De Lune for around £100.00.

Pram & Car Seat

Pram & Car Seat Bundle

Your baby does need a pram and the good thing is they can come in bundles with a car seat! We got this bundle because it came with the car seat and changing bag. It just makes our lives a little easier. There is cheaper out there so may need researching.

Baby Clothes

Lots of Baby Clothes

Not much needs to be said about this, you need lots of baby clothes. We mainly focussed on getting babygrows and vest up until they are 1 year old. I personally think Next do some of the cutest babygrows!

Dribble Clothes

Dribble Clothes / Bibs

Get lots and lots of dribble clothes / bibs. Even when you think you have enough, just buy more. They come in handy for so many things. We always have one on standby just in case.

Baby Wipes

Lots & Lots of Baby Wipes

Just get absolutely loads of baby wipes. Trust me, I didn't believe the whole "You can never have enough baby wipes" saying. It is true. Get loads of baby wipes. You can get this pack of 1000 wipes for around £11.00 on Amazon.

Changing Mats

Changing Mats

You need at least 2 changing mats. Personally, we got one for downstairs and one for upstairs. We got ours from Next, but you can usually get them in a twin pack.

Baby Bath & Thermometer

Baby Bath

Bathing your baby is so cute! We got the Nuby Bath as you can bath the baby anywhere you want. I've just seen this bath and bath thermometer combo online for £19.00. We paid £25.00 for the bath and £10.00 for the thermometer so it is definitely worth it.

White Noise Machine

Sound Machine

One thing I didn't realise when having a baby is that they love 'white noise'. We play this sound machine at bedtime which helps our baby fall and stay asleep. We got ours for around £20.00.

Room Thermometer

Thermometer

Finally one on your essentials are room thermometers. We have 2 of these, 1 for downstairs and 1 for upstairs. I personally recommend this Tommee Tippee one for £20.00. However, you can get multipacks on Amazon for cheaper.

Products I Love

Star Blanket

Star Blanket

Our daughter is not old enough to fit in this yet, but when she is, I can't wait to see her crawling about looking like a little starfish.

Dancing Crab

Dancing Crab

This might be my favourite item on this whole article. This little crab dances all around the room it is in. Perfect for tummy time.

Baby Gym

Baby Gym

Our daughter has just started interacting with the toys on this baby gym and it is so cute! Perfect for tummy and back time.

Teddies

Teddies

You will probably get gifted a lot of teddies, but its always good to get your own! Winnie The Pooh are our favourites.

Bath Toys

Bath Toys

Our baby hasn't started using bath toys yet, but when she does we have a basketball game and interactive toys waiting for her!

Foot Finders

Feet Finders

Our baby is currently too young for these (that or she has 0 interest in them) They are meant to be good for your baby finding their own arms and feet!

Sensory Toy

Sensory Toys

This is a must for me. Our baby has just started interacting with this and following it with her eyes. I love it.

Books

Books

Lots of baby books so you can read to your little one. We got this big set of Winnie The Pooh books for around £30.00.
